Having Fun With Acrylic Paint!

I thought I would take the time to capture some of my highlights from this past year. A lot happened and I have a lot to be thankful for.

First and most important is the support and encouragement I have received from family and friends, starting with my wife, Angela. She is always positive about my efforts and my dedication. Both of my children are also encouraging and have helped me continue on my journey creatively and with the business side.

I moved to a new studio towards the end of the year. I find it interesting how my space and my location affect my work. Part of it has to be the time and getting used to a place. My new place has so many positives but I still haven’t gotten back into a smooth rhythm that I had previously; maybe part of it is the time of year when we are all busy with the holidays.

I had my most successful “business year” as measured by the number of art sales. I’ve sold almost 3X more art this year than last. Part of the equation is getting better at my craft and part of it is having more opportunities to show my art to people at events. 

I continue to want to learn more techniques and try new styles. I have to be careful as I’ve been warned about not sticking to “my style”. And I definitely appreciate that perspective but there are so many wonderful paintings I want to learn how to create I may just have to keep doing new things on the side and keep my external style consistent.

Lastly, this year I’ve been declared cancer-free and have felt great. While not directly about my art, our health affects every aspect of our lives. As I look back at what I accomplished this year and the challenges I had in 2022, it does make a world of difference when you can focus on the future and make progress on your goals.
